Templates Explained
Templates in Motion allow you to streamline your workflow and save time by creating reusable structures for projects and tasks. With templates, you can easily replicate common project setups and task configurations, ensuring consistency and efficiency across your workspaces.
Templates are saved under a specific workspace. If you create a template in Workspace A, you won't be able to see it in Workspace B.
Two Ways to Create a Template
From an existing task or project
From scratch
Template From an Existing Task
To create a template from a task, follow these steps:
Click on "Projects & Tasks" in the top navigation bar.
Select any workspace.
Open the task you want to turn into a template.
Click the 3 dots icon next to the βXβ button.
Select βSave as templateβ.
Enter the template name.
Click on βCreate a templateβ to save it.
To use a task template:
Create a new task.
Click the puzzle icon in the top right corner of the task modal.
Select the template you want to use from the list.
The task will automatically populate with all the fields you created in the template.
Example: Repetitive Client Task
Let's say you have a task that needs to be performed each time a client is added to your portfolio. You can create a task template with all the necessary steps, instructions, and assignees. Whenever a new client is added, simply use this template to create a task with pre-filled details.
Template From an Existing Project
Creating project templates in Motion follows a similar process to task templates. Here's how:
Click on "Projects & Tasks" in the top navigation bar.
Select any workspace.
Switch to the βProjectsβ view.
Open the project you want to turn into a template.
Click the 3 dots icon next to the βXβ button.
Select βSave as templateβ.
Enter the template name.
Click on βCreate a templateβ to save it.
To use a project template:
Click "Add Project" in the workspace.
Click the puzzle icon in the top right corner of the Task Dialog.
Choose the desired template from the list.
The project will be created with all the predefined structures and tasks from the template.
