Your Top Task Scheduling Questions Answered

1. What happens to tasks that I don't finish on time?

Rest easy! Motion is designed to automatically reschedule any tasks you can't complete within the stipulated timeframe. No need for you to manually adjust due dates or priorities - we believe Motion should save you time, not complicate matters. Simply click the checkmark to mark a task as done when you've finished it. If not, Motion will reorganize your tasks and reschedule any incomplete ones within 30 minutes of their original end time.

2. What does the "Play/Start Task" button for a task do?

The "play" button is there to signal your intent to start a task ahead of schedule. Pressing "play" brings the selected task to the current time and adjusts any overlapping tasks accordingly.

3. Can you explain the solid and dashed borders around my task?

Sure! Tasks with a dotted border are deemed "free," whereas tasks with a solid border are marked as "busy." A task remains "free" until there are no more available time slots for it before its deadline. Once the task moves to the last available slot, it switches to "busy" (solid line/border).

4. How can I view my completed tasks?

There are two ways to do this. You can enable the "Show completed tasks" toggle at the bottom left of the Motion calendar for a quick overview. For more detailed information on each task, use the "Projects & Tasks" filter to show completed tasks.

5. Is it possible to change the color of my tasks?

We're working on that! Soon, you'll be able to customize task colors. In the meantime, some users utilize emojis in their task titles for a more visual organization. You can do this by right-clicking on the task title and selecting "Emojis & Symbols."

6. Could I end up with two tasks scheduled at the same time?

In an ideal world, we could be in two places at once. But Motion is rooted in reality. Our system might take a moment to recalculate tasks, during which you may see some overlap. If this persists, feel free to reach out to our support team via the chat icon on the bottom right of your screen.
